Deaf Services is expanding its American Sign Language (ASL) services for local theatre productions in response to our community needs and increased interest from Deaf and hard-of-hearing neighbors.

For several years, we have partnered with Tivoli Theatre on an as-needed basis, arranging interpreters when requests arose. Recently, a dedicated Deaf community member purchased season tickets at Tivoli Theatre and requested ASL interpretation for the entire season. This commitment inspired Tivoli to collaborate with Deaf Services and ensure that every Broadway production
in their season was accessible to our community.

Expanding these services fosters greater inclusion and accessibility for Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals at cultural attractions. The steady increase in Deaf attendance, especially as Deaf patrons invite friends and family, shows the impact of these efforts.

Our goal is to create welcoming environments where everyone can fully participate in the arts. In the future, we hope to work with the Chattanooga Zoo on an ASL Day at the Zoo.

In April, members of this community will enjoy Signs of Spring at Cades Cove in the Smoky Mountains National Park. This will mark our third year participating in this wonderful event
